Product detail

Takefu is one of the most famous centers of Japanese knifemaking. Look for it on the map under the name Echizen in Fukui province on the main island of Honshu. This center is famous for its traditional uchihamono blacksmithing. And since the Japanese place great emphasis on traditions, it is not surprising that the Takefu Knife Village association was founded here. It has a museum, a shop and, most importantly, blacksmith workshops. The giants of contemporary blacksmithing, such as Anryu san, Kato san, Ikeda san and others, work there. Their knives only reach a lucky few, but their other task is to educate a new generation of blacksmiths.

Kurosaki is a prominent family name in Takefu. The younger of the brothers Yu is a talented blacksmith. His older brother Makoto decided to follow the path of a sharpener. Determining the angles of blades and then creating a fine edge is a real challenge. He learned this craft from master Hiroshi Kato. The fact that he has mastered it brilliantly is evidenced by the fact that Yu Kurosaki, Yoshimi Kato or Takumi Ikeda entrust him with their blades. Makoto Kurosaki is known for his ability to sharpen incredibly subtle blades with a durable edge. This mastery led him to release a series of knives under his name. We managed to obtain a few and are proud to bring them to you.
