Masahiro MC-700

As we have already announced, we are bringing other products bearing the Masahiro brand. It would be a shame not to give our clients the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the products of this important manufacturer.

Even if the Masahiro company has its very high-quality steel MBS-26, it is obvious that with such an extensive product range will also grab from external sources. Takefu Special Steel Co. in particular seems to enjoy a lot of confidence. Silver No.1 steel comes from the portfolio of this manufacturer. It is a high-carbon steel /0.95-1.05%/ with a similar composition to White No.2, which can be found in the core of the popular bunka  MC-80. If the carbon content is the same, Silver No.1 has a significantly higher chromium content. That is why this steel is also called Chromax. Although free chromium is represented more abundantly than in traditional Japanese Carbon steels, its percentage representation is at the level of 5 percentage points. It is therefore a so-called semi-stainless steel. Despite the fact that it does not resist moisture as brilliantly as steels with 13% chromium, it is a great balance of hardness /60°HRC/, durability and grinding ability.

Like Tojiro, Masahiro also uses steel with decarbonization prevention. It means that in the production process the steel is not heated to critical temperatures where carbon loss occurs. The blade is three-layer /San Mai/ where the already mentioned Silver No.1 core with a symmetrical "V" blade is lined on the sides with softer anti-corrosion steel SUS-410L. The blade is aesthetically decorated with traditional kanji characters and a sandblasted shinogi line that separates the hamono from the rest of the blade.

We call handles made of reddish stabilized pakkawood wood hybrid. Although it is an eastern handle in the shape of the letter "D" with a half tang construction, but with a milled steel bolster and two strengthening rivets. The hybrid handles give the knives a very interesting character and welcome robustness.

From the Masahiro MC 700 collection, we have selected for you the universal Santoku knife, the vegetable specialist Nakiri and the Funayuki knife, which takes over the function of a smaller chef's knife. These knives confirm the effort of the Masahiro company - to bring interesting knives where quality exceeds price.
