Suzaku

There is no doubt that Chinese culture and religion have had a major impact on the development of neighboring territories. Japan is a good example of this. Although the Japanese, as is customary, have perfected the original, references to Chinese sources are obvious. They are no strangers to traditional Chinese astronomy, which has divided the constellations into 4 symbols and 28 celestial palaces. And just one of these symbols will be of great interest to us. 

Fire bird, which complements the white tiger, black turtle and azure dragon, represents summer, fire and is the patron of the southern world. It is depicted as a bird with red feathers. 

Marusho Industry Inc., a manufacturer of Mcusta Zanmai, Mcusta and Silky brands, is one of the most reputable knife manufacturers in Japan. The family business has a smaller but even more sophisticated workshop in Seki. Their products are characterized by perfect processing of details using the best materials. Ultimate Aranami, Revolution or Supreme Hammered knives do not have to convince anyone that they belong to the premium class. But the Hasegawa family did not rest on their laurels and decided to move the Mcusta Zanmai brand even higher and thus celebrate the first decade of the launch of the Zanmai brand. It's a great opportunity to present their 54 years of experience. 

They were motivated by a fire bird, which is called SUZAKU in Japan. As unmistakable as he is, it will also be a hyper-luxurious, strictly limited set that you are guaranteed not to miss. Only 50 sets have been made for the whole world, so it will not be easy to get among the chosen ones. Each set as well as the knives themselves carry their serial number, which the owners of these gems will mark when communicating with each other. This product took more than a year to develop. 

The SUZAKU set consists of of four knives: petty, santoku, gyuto and kiritsuke. Knives are exceptional in every detail. The Damascus blade bears the label Rainbow Damascus and, like the rainbow, plays in several colors. The use of copper succeeded in perfectly imitating the feathers of a fire bird. The core is made of hard "blue" steel, specifically Aogami II, reaching a hardness of 63 HRC. The 32 outer layers were formed by folding copper and steel. The material for this piece of jewelry comes from a guaranteed address: Takefu Special Steel Co. Ltd. However, its alchemists have, of course, kept the secret of this extraordinary Damascus to themselves.  The top of the blade is decorated with a gentle beating. The edge is typical of Marusho. It has the shape of a Hamaguri, just like the famous samurai katanas. Each blade is marked with a decent inscription Limited Edition Suzaku and kit number. 

The bolster and end cap of the handle are made of an alloy of silver and nickel to meet antibacterial parameters. What is between them deserves attention. The handle is made of acrylic resin. This material is water resistant, color stable and strong. It resists light and does not turn yellow even after an extremely long time. The manufacturer incorporated pieces of metal into the resin, thus multiplying the already respectable strength of the material. The handle plays with many shades of red evocative flame of fire. Just like a fire bird. Precision and attention to detail are represented by the delimiting rings between the bolster, the end cap and the handle as well as the decorative application on the the handle. The handle is, of course, octagonal in shape, extending pyramidal to the heel. The red SUZAKU is perched on it. 

The bird of fire must have a residence appropriate to its importance. SUZAKU therefore "nests" in a majestic cassette made of paulownia wood. The extension of the front wall reveals four sarcophagi placed one above the other. These are lined with a coarse fiery red fabric of the highest quality. There are knives on it, on which you will look in vain for a weak spot. On the fourth floor, a department for a non-woven cloth for polishing the blades and Hamono Abura camellia oil for blade treatment also found a place. However, only clients of Nippon Knives will receive it. There is a quality certificate with the speech of the company's president Tomohiro Hasegawa. The seller and the date of sale will be written on the back of it. 

From a practical point of view, the information is sufficient that the kit contains types of knives that will cover at least 90% of the activities normally performed. For detailists, however, we list the lengths of individual blades: Petty 150mm Santoku 180mm Gyuto 210mm Kiritsuke 230mm
