Product detail

Long-term experience has shown us that even those Japanese knives from lower price levels can surprise in a very positive way. Kasumi Tora knives are a clear example , which compete in price with knives from department stores, but with their performance they easily send them into oblivion. It is given by the Japanese nature, where the loss of a good name is the last thing a Japanese person is willing to accept. And so compromises in the field of construction and material are chosen very carefully with an emphasis on their minimal impact on the function of the product. This is also the case with the Suncraft Senzo Wa series.

Wa means Japanese, and looking at these knives, the reason for choosing the name is immediately clear. It is a traditional half tang construction with a blade driven into a pre-drilled handle. Ferrules are used for reinforcement, which minimize the spontaneous release of the handle. It is a simple and very efficient production method that has been used in Japan for a very long time and there is no sign of it changing. Such knives are pleasantly light, sharpen well and are simply beautiful. If a customer is looking for traditional Japanese knives, we show them the Wa design.

Senzo Wa knives have a monolithic blade made of anti-corrosion molybdenum-vanadium steel hardened to 57 HRC. The steel has the designation 1K6 and is a product of the Daido Steel plant. The blade bears the name of the brand and material, as well as the country of origin. The edge has the shape of a symmetrical letter "V".

Through the metal ferrule made of SUS 304 steel, we come to the oval handle made of yellow magnolia. It is very pleasant in the hand and creates a feeling of warmth and perfect grip. An interesting and practical detail is the ferrule closing with a plastic cover made of ABS resin, which simplifies the maintenance of the knife. These knives can handle far more than you would expect for their price. Just try it.

About producer

Suncraft

Seki, with a tradition longer than 700 years, belongs together with the Sakai and Tosa regions to the oldest centers of Japanese blacksmithing. The ideal conditions for this craft attracted many blacksmiths already at the end of the 12th century. The legendary Motoshige was among them. He was aware of the presence of high-quality iron ore sand, pine peat and the proximity of water sources. Everything a blacksmith needs for his work. Adding to their craftsmanship, swords were created that quickly gained their reputation. The saying that a Seki blade will never bend or break accompanies local products to this day.

The fact that 40% of the local industry belongs to the knife industry speaks of the specialization of the city of Seki. Many important manufacturers of famous brands such as Masahiro, Kasumi, Mcusta-Zanmai, Hattori and many others are located here. Nippon Knives brings you another one - SUNCRAFT.

Kawashima Industries, the owner of the Suncraft brand, is one of the bigger manufacturers in Seki. Since 1947, it has specialized in knives and various other kitchen tools. The credo of the company is to investigate the needs of customers and respond flexibly to them. Significant investments in development and research help it to do so.

As is common in Japan, Kawashima Industries is a family business in which individual generations take turns. The founders of the company are rightfully proud of their ancestor, Mr. Senzo. He participated with his own resources in the construction of public zones and facilities in the city of Seki. He always had respect for its inhabitants and their needs. The current owners have the same respect for their customers. And in order not to forget the legacy of their ancestor, they call the knives made by company craftsmen Senzo.
