Product detail
The Japanese are known for their perfect blend of tradition and modernity. To understand why this is so, we must, of course, look back in history. The Japanese archipelago was isolated for a long time. Not just for geographical reasons, but mainly for political reasons. Closing oneself off from influences from other lands has long been seen as a matter of security. This is why, even in modern times of globalisation, Japan is so different.
Isolation brings with it negative features, of course. Development progresses more slowly than in “the open countries”. That is why the Japanese have more vehemently set about catching up on all they had missed. But even when applying the latest technologies, they do not forget the best practices that have been tried and tested over many generations. This is also the case with Suzuki Bros handmade nail clippers.
Hiroshi and Yoshiro Suzuki are brothers who have been making for long years at Seki outdoor custom knives. Their products are sought after all over the world and that is why they regularly participate in one of the most important trade fairs of this business - Atlanta Knife Show. However, many interested customers visit the brothers directly in Seki to place their orders. Patience is required for their gems, as delivery dates are not infrequently years away.
The newest Suzuki Bros. product is handmade nippers. Although they make the knives separately, this product is their joint creation. The nippers give a very high quality impression at first glance. Their 125mm length is just perfect in the palm of your hand and provides enough leverage to cut even the thickest nails. The sides of the handles are engraved with diamond shapes, which apart from the aesthetic value provide a flawless grip. The attention to detail is demonstrated on the folding clasp finished with a small spring. This glides lightly over the opposing arm and keeps the jaws in the open position. A simple, effective and durable solution. The jaws are made of SUS 420J2 steel, which is strong enough but not brittle. The jaws must not come into contact with each other as they would quickly become dull. Therefore, there is a slit between them the thickness of a human hair. This ensures long-term sharpness. This extremely important detail sets them miles apart from the cheap competition.
The nippers have a satin finish and 3 kanji characters that stand for "Made by the Suzuki Brothers." They did not forget about the plastic jaw cap either. As is customary with Japanese premium products, this one is packaged in a traditional kiribako. It is a stylish paulownia wooden cassette with a hand-woven lining. The outside of the top bears the text "Handmade nail clippers" while the inside bears the brothers' fitting quote "this product materializes our soul and heart."
